This category B1 aerodynamics module initially establishes the need for a standard atmosphere (ISA) and to describe the properties of the atmosphere as applicable to aerodynamics. The module investigates the airflow around a body and the generation of lift and drag as well as forces that act on an aircraft whilst in steady flight and while carrying out manoeuvres. The module continues by discussing specific design features of aircraft for stability as well as those applicable for control, drag and lift augmentation.
