This Category A Aviation Legislation module details the legal framework in which Part-66 Licensed Engineers work. It describes the development of UK European and International Aviation Legislation and states the principle responsibilities of the UK CAA, EASA and ICAO, describing the relationship between them and other Aviation Authorities. The module explains Part-M, Part-66, Part-145, and Part-147 and Part-CAT and describes how they inter-relate the legislation relating to each. The module covers the purpose and requirements of Part-66 along with the various licence categories, their scope and the requirements for obtaining each one. 

Next the module covers the topic of Part-147 Training Organisations, their role and responsibilities within the licensing system. Finally the requirements of Part-CAT are explained including: Air Operator Certificate, Operators’ responsibilities, Documentation to be carried, Aircraft markings, Maintenance responsibility, Maintenance Management, Aircraft maintenance programs, Aircraft Technical Logbook, Maintenance records and modification logbooks, and finishing with Mandatory Occurrence Reporting.
