This category B2 Digital Techniques and Electronic Instrument Systems module starts out with looking at Electronic Flight Instrument systems (EFIS), Electronic Centralised Aircraft Monitor system (ECAM), Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS). This is then followed by Numbering systems, Data conversion, Data buses and Logic circuits.
Once these elements have been covered, computer terminology, computer structure, layout and operation is studied before looking at the integrated circuits, fibre optics, electronic displays and electrostatic sensitive devices.
The last section involves investigating the layout, operation and built-in-test equipment (BITE) of a selection of electronic and digital air-craft systems including: Airborne Reporting (ACARS), Fly-by-Wire (FBW),), and Flight Management System (FMS).
